This listing is for straight run, one day old American Bresse chicks. There is a minimum requirement of 6 chicks per order but you can mix and match any breeds you like!

American Bresse are a wonderful dual purpose breed. They are prized for their ability to have marbled meat like beef and they are excellent egg layers, laying around 4-5 large, cream to tan colored eggs per week. They are an outstanding choice for self sufficient homesteads being a sustainable breed that provides both eggs and meat year round.
This specific line of Bresse is from Mandelyn Royal's Bresse line and has been bred specifically for great table qualities such as large bodies, big breasts, rounder legs, and smaller bone diameter increasing meat to bone ratio. Madelyn Royal has been nationally recognized for her work with Bresse and we are very fortunate to be able to offer this line that has taken many years of selective breeding to bring them to this point!
*We do not sex our chickens unless they are an auto-sexing breed, American Bresse are not an auto-sexing breed, so they are sold straight run. This means that you have a possibility of getting all females, all males or a mixture of both.
Shipping:
All chicks are shipped USPS Express with a minimum order of 6 chicks. When your chicks ship, you will receive an email with your tracking information. Your chicks will be held at your post office for pickup so you must pay attention to the tracking and be prepared to pick up your chicks the day they arrive. Your post office should call you but in the event they do not it is still your responsibility to pick up your chicks when they arrive.We will not be held responsible for notifying customers when chicks are ready for pickup. We do our best to send healthy, happy chicks and get them to you as quickly as possible. Free local pickup is also available. Please go read our day old chick policy for further details, you will be asked to agree to ours terms and conditions upon checkout.*
48-hour live arrival guarantee:
If you have chicks arrive deceased, or fail to survive within 48 hours of pickup from the post office, then you must contact us immediately and send photos of any deceased chicks or we will not replace or refund any chicks. If you do not pick up your chicks on the same day of arrival at your post office the 48 hour guarantee is null and void. Shipped chicks require a heat lamp not a heat plate (see “caring for your chicks” below). If you do choose to use a heat plate, you may lose chicks in the first few days and the 48-HR live chick guarantee will be null and void. There will be no refunds for shipping costs. Depending on how many chicks have deceased, we will either reimburse you for the deceased chicks or offer store credit equal to the value of the chicks (our choice). Extra chicks are not eligible for reimbursement or replacement. Replacement chicks will be sent out as soon as the chicks are available.
Cancellations:
You may request to cancel your order for a full refund within 7 days of your purchase. All orders will be shipped within the selected ship month or up to 30 days after the selected ship month. For example, if you select "May" then we have through June to ship your order out. If we are not able to meet this deadline then you may cancel your order for a full refund. If you choose to cancel your order before our deadline to ship, you will forfeit 50% of the order total OR you may choose to receive 100% of your order as store credit toward future website purchases. We try our best to get all orders out in a timely manner but sometimes circumstances or weather can put us behind. ***There are no exceptions to this policy***
Caring for your chicks:
Once your chicks arrive they will need to be placed under a heat lamp for the first week. Shipped chicks require a heat lamp, not a heat plate. Cold chicks will not eat sufficiently and hungry chicks cannot maintain adequate body temperature therefore they require sufficient supplemental heating. The chicks need their body temperatures warmed up to 104 degrees and most heat plates are not capable of this. At the floor level of your brooder, the temperature should be between 100-105 degrees for the first 3 days. After that, the temperature can be lowered to be around 100 degrees. If you do choose to use a heat plate, you may lose chicks in the first few days and the 48-HR live chick guarantee will be null and void. We also recommend providing electrolyte supplements in the chick's water for the first week to help replenish vitamins and minerals and providing medicated chick starter.
Marek’s disease vaccine:
Marek's vaccine is also available for an additional fee of $40. Please add the Marek’s Disease vaccine to your cart when you checkout, there is a separate listing for it under the Day Old Chicks section.
